Queensland talent Harrison Watts extended his lead in the 2022 FIM MiniGP Australia Series with a double victory at Ipswich’s round three.

Watts, 14, put his local knowledge of the venue to good use and converted pole position to lead every lap and take a 7.9s victory in race one, ahead of Levi Russo and Teerin Fleming.

Fleming grabbed the early lead in the second bout, but Watts took to the front on lap two and didn’t look back en route to taking his third win in the series to date. The race two rostrum and round three overall was completed by Russo in second and Fleeming third.

Looking at the championship standings and Watts leads by 20 points ahead of Fleming, with Russo P3 a further 18 adrift.

In the support classes, Jai Russo was victorious in Ohvale GP-2, as Marcus Hamod stood on the top step in Ohvale GP-0. Buzz Kiely came out on top in Veterans, with Marcus Hamod claiming the victory in Supermoto Pro 250 and Damien McCartin in Supermoto Pro 450.

Rounds four and five of the series take place on 30 September – 2 October at the Oakleigh Go Kart Track.
