The strong British Superbike Championship (BSB) form of Jason O’Halloran continued through round six of the 2022 series at Thruxton, as the McAMS Yamaha rider took two thrilling race wins to extend his lead at the top.

O’Halloran emerged victorious in the sprint race, besting teammate Tarran Mackenzie and Rich Energy OMG Racing’s Bradley Ray to take his sixth win of the season.

An exciting last lap in race two saw the number 22 secure another victory ahead of Mackenzie and Ray, with the trio separated by just 0.165s across the line. The Australian concluded the round with a P3 finish in the third race, following another intense battle against the same contenders that ultimately saw O’Halloran miss the win by 0.293s.

“We won two races this weekend and took a third, the fastest lap of the weekend and felt really comfortable in all of the races,” O’Halloran explained. “I managed the first two races quite well and in the last race I got a worse start so it changed the strategy, I sat behind Taz [Mackenzie] and Brad [Ray] for as long as I could and then I probably went to the front one lap too early thinking I had more tyre than I did.

“Maybe I pushed too much too soon and cooked the tyre a bit, but they were very enjoyable races. I love racing here, it’s more like a cycling race than a tyre race as you’re conserving the tyres and thinking about strategy. It would have been easier if there was two of us, as when there are three it makes the strategy a bit more tricky but I’ve now had 12 podiums on the bounce and I’m really enjoying it at the minute and looking forward to Cadwell Park.”

O’Halloran leads the championship standings by 24 points as the series moves to Cadwell Park on 27-29 August for round seven.
