It was a challenging weekend for Jason O’Halloran at Cadwell Park, enduring rear tyre issues that hampered his charge at round seven of the 2022 British Superbike Championship (BSB).

O’Halloran entered the event on a streak of 12 consecutive podium finishes in the premier class and was close to keeping that alive in the Sprint Race at Cadwell, crossing the line P4.

A mystery tyre degradation in Monday’s two races saw the Australian notch 8-9 finishes – his lowest of the season. While he relinquished the points’ lead to Bradley Ray, he is still ahead on crucial podium points for the Showdown, with two more than the OMG Yamaha rider.

“It’s been a difficult weekend for us,” O’Halloran reflected. “It was bound to come at some point as we’ve had a really good run of wins and podiums and a lot of tracks we’ve been to we’ve been super strong.

“We came here and it’s just not gone our way, we’ll have to look at what happened as in both races today I had issues with the rear tyre and that’s not something we usually have issues with, so we’ll look into it, see what we can find and come out stronger at Snetterton where we had a good test earlier this year.”

In the 2022 BSB Championship, to date, O’Halloran has notched 12 podiums and eight race victories. Just one round remains at Snetterton on 9-11 September before the Showdown commences at Oulton Park on 23-25 September.
