Thompson selected for 2023 Red Bull MotoGP Rookies

Former OJC champion secures next step on Road to MotoGP.

Australia’s Carter Thompson has been selected to compete in the 2023 Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup following a three-day selection event at Autodromo di Modena, Italy.

Thompson was one of eight chosen to join the series next year and currently competes in the Idemitsu Asia Talent Cup (ATC) and the European Talent Cup with the AGR Team.

“So excited to announce that I have been selected for the 2023 RedBull MotoGP Rookies Cup,” Thompson shared. “I would like to thank all involved for this opportunity.”

Australians contesting this year’s Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup are Harrison Voight and Jacob Roulstone, with an announcement expected following Valencia’s final round in November on which current rookies will remain in the series next season

Thompson won the inaugural Oceania Junior Cup in 2019 and won the Yamaha Finance R3 Cup in 2020, with his latest selection marking the next step on the Road to MotoGP program. 2023 will be the 17th year of the Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup.
