Elf Marc VDS Moto2 fill-in Senna Agius will continue with the outfit at Aragon, set to compete in round 15 of the 2022 world championship as team regular Sam Lowes continues to recover.

A standout in his first season in the European Moto2 series, Agius received the call-up to compete initially in Austria and San Marino.

Despite Lowes’ efforts to mend from left shoulder and upper arm injuries sustained at Silverstone last month, he is still not ready to return to action, providing Agius with the opportunity to compete with the squad for a third round.

“I’m really looking forward to getting another chance to compete in the Moto2 World Championship in Aragon,” Agius explained. “I know we have a long lap penalty to serve after my unfortunate mistake in Misano but it doesn’t change how I will approach the weekend and challenge ahead.

“We’ll work in the same way as the last two races in terms of building speed and confidence. Aragon is a track I love and I’m really excited to be back on the bike and working with the Elf Marc VDS Racing Team once again.”

In his world championship debut at the Red Bull Ring, Agius finished a credible P17 after serving a long-lap penalty. At Misano, he swiftly worked his way inside the top 20 before a mistake on lap four while trying to pass another rider brought a premature end to his race.

Agius will take to the track this Friday in Spain when round 15 of the Moto2 World Championship commences at Aragon.
