India marks 18th country to feature in next year's 21 round season.
The provisional 2023 MotoGP World Championship calendar has been revealed, featuring an expanded 21 rounds across 18 countries.
As previously announced, the season-opening venue will be Portimao as the championship commences in Portugal for the first time on 24-26 March, with the Qatar GP at Lusail International Circuit moved to round 20 on 17-19 November.
Notably, the series makes a maiden visit to India for round 14, as the Buddh International Circuit will host the Indian GP on 22-24 September. Also, it was recently confirmed that a Grand Prix will take place in Kazakhstan from 2023, with round nine to be contested at the brand-new Sokol International Racetrack on 7-9 July.
Historically, Le Mans will host the 1000th Grand Prix as the French GP marks the fifth stop on the calendar on 12-14 May. Next year’s Australian Grand Prix at Phillip Island is scheduled for 20-22 October, roughly one week later than the 2022 edition at the venue.
The 2023 season will finish once more at Valencia, Spain on 24-26 November, notably three weeks later than the final round this season.
