Moto3 World Championship contender Joel Kelso will compete on a Livson Racing BMW M 1000 RR for the final round of the 2022 Mi-Bike Australian Superbike Championship (ASBK) at The Bend.

Kelso completed his maiden campaign in the MotoGP paddock 21st in the lightweight class after missing multiple rounds due to injury, achieving a best result of P8 at the Australian GP.

Making the switch to CFMOTO Racing for 2023, the 19-year-old will return to Australia after Moto3 testing is complete with the Pruestel GP squad at Valencia. He will have the opportunity to work with former crew chief Jake Skate when he makes his competitive superbike debut on 25-27 November.

“I’ve known Nathan [Spiteri – Livson Racing team owner] for a long time, and that combined with the chance to work again with my old crew chief and friend Jake Skate, it was an easy decision to come back home and race in the ASBK championship!” Kelso explained.

“I’m really excited to share the track with people I’ve grown up watching the racing and people who have supported me so far in my career, and I know it will be a lot of fun racing against all the ASBK regulars and I’m looking forward to having some fun and racing a completely different bike to what I am used to!”

Kelso adds to what is an immensely competitive list of international talent set to join the premier ASBK class at The Bend, including Jack Miller (Ducati), Josh Hook (Honda), Senna Agius (Penrite Honda Racing), Billy McConnell (727 Moto Yamaha), Travis Wyman (Addicted to Track Yamaha) and Marcel Schrotter.
