A new Mi-Bike Australian Superbike (ASBK) record in the form of a 1m31.286s sees Josh Waters line up in pole position for the three races at round six of the 2022 championship at Phillip Island.

Waters (Boost Mobile Ducati with K-Tech) set the benchmark relatively early in the session, eclipsing Wayne Maxwell’s record posted earlier in the year by 0.077s.

South Australian Daniel Falzon fired his William Adam’s Caterpillar Yamaha into P2 with a 1m31.596s, as Maxwell (Boost Mobile Ducati with K-Tech) completed the front row courtesy of a 1m31.775s. Also in the 1m31s bracket, DesmoSport Ducati’s Bryan Staring will line-up P4, ahead of points-leader Mike Jones (Yamaha Racing Team) who notched a 1m32.008s.

Just 0.001s behind Jones was Anthony West (MotoGo) Yamaha, ahead of Troy Herfoss (Penrite Honda Racing) who elevated to seventh in the closing stages. Eighth was Cru Halliday, less than a tenth from teammate Jones in P5, as Glenn Allerton (NextGen Motorsports BMW) and Arthur Sissis (Unitech Racing Yamaha) completed the top 10.

Race one for Australian superbikes takes place 11:40am local time and is scheduled for 12 laps.
