Mildura’s Josh Waters has been officially confirmed as the replacement for the now-retired Wayne Maxwell at the Boost Mobile with K-Tech McMartin Racing team, joining the outfit for a complete 2023 Mi-Bike Australian Superbike Championship (ASBK) campaign.

Waters debuted with the team last year at the MotoGP support races and filling in for Maxwell he made a statement by delivering a perfect scorecard at the event.

He was then provided with an opportunity to remain with the squad for the final two rounds of the 2022 domestic superbike season, alongside Maxwell, claiming the overall win at Phillip Island’s penultimate round and posting a new qualifying record at the venue. The three-time ASBK champion now eyes further success as he continues with the team full-time in 2023.

“I’m really excited to be joining the Boost Mobile with K-Tech team for the 2023 Australian Superbike championship season,” said Waters. “I was lucky enough to race for the team at three races last year and really clicked with the bike and team which makes me really excited for this year.

“I’m looking forward to working with everyone in the team also, we all have the same goal for the 2023 season which is to try and win. I’ll be trying my hardest to make this happen.”

Boost Mobile with K-Tech McMartin Racing team owner Craig McMartin added: “I am very excited to have Josh on the team this season, he fitted into the team extremely well last year and has the same drive and determination every member of our team; to win races and have fun.

“The result of the rider is also dependant on the performance of each and everyone in the team, I am also very happy to have Adrian Monti, Greg & Julie Maher, Shaun Olsen, Wayne Maxwell and my brother Dale continue with the Boost Mobile with Craig McMartin Racing Team in 2023.”

The 2023 ASBK season gets underway with the official pre-season test at Sydney Motorsport Park on 1-2 February, before the first of seven rounds takes place at Phillip Island on 24-26 February.
