It was a solid start to the 2023 British Superbike Championship (BSB) for McAMs Yamaha rider Jason O’Halloran, with the Australian looking to upcoming the test at Oulton Park this week to work through some things after leaving Silverstone’s opening round fifth in the standings.

2023 marks O’Halloran’s fifth season with the McAMS outfit and after setting the fastest time in practice he opened this year’s campaign by qualifying fourth fastest at Silverstone’s National circuit, just 0.154s from BeerMonster Ducati’s Tommy Bridewell on pole.

O’Halloran was in contention throughout each of the three races, ultimately notching 4-5-4 results while battling a lack of grip which prevented him from exploiting the Yamaha’s usual advantages. He leaves Silverstone with 35 points, with a deficit of 13 to early championship leader and countryman Josh Brookes (FHO Racing BMW).

“The weekend hasn’t been too bad,” O’Halloran said. “I felt pretty good in myself and felt like I was riding well and I was in the front group in all of the races. We’re just struggling a little bit with a few things so we have to keep working at it.

“We’ve got a test coming up this week so we need to work through a few things as quick as we can and turn up to Oulton with the hope of being a bit stronger.”

The second round of the 2023 British Superbike Championship takes place at Oulton Park on 29 April – 1 May, with an official two-day test commencing today at the venue.
