WorldSSP contender looking to get in best possible form for Imola.
After a promising built-up to the sixth round of the 2023 Supersport World Championship at Donington, D34G Racing’s Oli Bayliss’ outing was brought to a premature end after a qualifying crash meant he was declared unfit ahead of race one with a dislocated shoulder.
Prior to the UK round, Bayliss made a cameo appearance in the IDM Supersport Championship at Most and took pole position plus the race one victory.
After a strong outing in the Czech Republic, Bayliss returned to the world championship ready for an uplift, but unfortunately, a high side at the exit of turn 12 during superpole spelt the end of his weekend.
“Hard pill to swallow this weekend, after a good weekend in most I expected a lot more,” said Bayliss. “We had a good Friday and I felt good on Saturday morning in qualifying and just had a big crash which left me out for the rest of the weekend with a dislocated shoulder. Time to get to physio and get back to Imola in the best form possible.”
The 2023 Supersport World Championship resumes at Imola on 14-16 July, with Bayliss’ best result in the WorldSSP season to date coming at Mandalika where he was P8 in race one.
