Donington wasn’t the easiest Superbike World Championship (WorldSBK) weekend in the debut 2023 season of Remy Gardner but the Australian will look to the positives in search of an uplift at Imola.

The GYTR GRT Yamaha rider started from a lowly P18 for race one but made a fast start and gained five places on the opening lap, later reaching P10 by race-end.

Lining up on the sixth row again for the Superpole race, Gardner finished 15th which meant he was unable to improve his starting position for the final bout of the weekend, where he recovered sixth places to cross the line in P12.

“Not the easiest weekend at all, not knowing the track didn’t help and the tricky conditions didn’t make it any easier,” said Gardner. “Anyway, we should look at the positives, we improved on some technical aspects, and we got faster with each session. Thankfully we’ll have another round in just a few weeks, so I’m looking forward to it.”

Gardner’s best result of the season came in race two at Assen where he finished P6, and he is currently 11th in the WorldSBK standings as the championship moves to Imola on 14-16 July.
