DesmoSport Ducati’s Broc Pearson made a positive start to the fifth round of the Mi-Bike Australian Superbike Championship (ASBK) at Morgan Park, scoring his best FP1 result of the season in P3.

Pearson’s fastest time of a 1m13.812s placed him three-tenths from pace-setter Mike Jones (Yamaha Racing Team), with times expected to improve in this afternoon’s sessions with warmer track temperatures.

“Yeah we were pretty happy with that,” Pearson said to CycleOnline. “We haven’t done a heap of testing here this year, we have only done two days like most of the guys so pretty happy with that. That lap time wasn’t great, but everyone seemed to be a little bit off with the times so happy to be our best FP1 result of the year.

“We didn’t opt for a soft tyre or anything like that, I was struggling a little bit for grip in the back, but that could be a mix of tyre and cold temps. No perfect laps then but I am pretty sure that it is going to be a fast weekend.”

Pearson scored his best result of the season last time out at Hidden Valley, finishing fifth in race three. He was strong at Morgan Park last year in the premier class, scoring a pair of fourth places in what marked his debut with the DesmoSport Ducati team.
