Australia’s Oli Bayliss has been declared unfit after FP1 of the Supersport World Championship (WorldSSP) at Imola, with injuries sustained in the Donington crash ultimately resulting in him being unable to complete the round in Italy.

The D34G Racing rider was ruled out of the previous UK round after discolating his shoulder in qualifying, with MRI scans after the fall revealing ligament damage.

“Hey everyone, unfortunately after FP1 I’ve been declared unfit for the rest of the weekend,” Bayliss shared. “After the crash in Donington we had an MRI done and found one ligament sliced through and one sliced halfway through proving we did dislocate the shoulder in the crash.

“I thought I might have at least been able to ride the weekend but after struggling to ride a bicycle early on in the week I knew it would be a difficult situation.

“We now have to have a look at all options to get me back to 100 percent so I have no problems in the future with an old injury. Thanks to everyone for their support and we’ll be back soon.”

After Imola, the Czech round of the Supersport World Championship takes place at Most between 28-30 July.
