A Friday morning highside has ruled runaway 2023 European Moto2 Championship leader Senna Agius out of the remainder of the Catalunya round.

Agius entered Barcelona with a 61 point lead, having won five out of six races contested in the season to date.

There are two races for the category at Catalunya, meaning the Liqui Moly Husqvarna Intact GP Junior Team rider could lose a maximum of 50 points to second-placed Xavier Cardelus (Promo Racing), but will still lead the series despite being forced out of round five.

“Back soon!” said Agius. “Shame to end my weekend early with a highside this morning. Felt like we were well on our way this weekend but it is what it is. Back to it after summer break.”

Following the season break, the penultimate round of the 2023 European Moto2 Championship takes place at MotorLand Aragon on 6-8 October 2023.
