Australia’s Ben Currie has emerged from the sixth round of the 2023 British Supersport Championship with the points lead, the Oxford Products Racing Ducati rider notching a consistent 2-2 scorecard at Brands Hatch.

Currie qualified fourth fastest and elevated to second in the soaked sprint race, securing the championship lead by nine points in the process.

In the feature race, Currie missed victory by 0.421s behind Astro-JJR Suzuki rider Rhys Irwin, ultimately securing another second-place result at the conclusion of the 16-lap bout.

“Had a dip today, close finish but not to be,” Currie shared. “First loser times two this weekend but solid points in the bag and championship leader. Keep working.”

Currie has scored six podiums in the 2023 season so far and leads Irwin by six points as the championship moves to Thruxton between 11-13 August.

Meanwhile, fellow Australian Tom Toparis notched 9-6 results at Brands Hatch and is currently fifth in the Supersport standings. Seth Crump had a DNF in race one and finished the second bout in P18.
