The LCR Honda Castrol team has named Iker Lecuona as the fill-in for the recovering Alex Rins at the upcoming British MotoGP at Silverstone.

Rins is recovering at home following his fibula and tibia injury after the crash at Mugello’s Sprint.

Surrounded by the best experts in the field, the number 42 is carrying out a solid daily plan to be ready to jump on the bike when the time comes.

Meanwhile, Lecuona – a Team HRC WorldSBK Championship regular – will contest his third MotoGP round for Honda this season, previously filling in at the Repsol Honda Team for Marc Marquez at Jerez and at Assen in place of Joan Mir.

“I wish Alex a speedy recovery; I know how difficult these situations are,” explained Lecuona. “In the meantime, I’m happy to jump on the bike, as I want to do my best and help the team. Besides, I like Silverstone’s layout, and we can have fun. I want to thank the Honda family and LCR for the opportunity.”

The British GP marks the ninth round in the 2023 MotoGP World Championship, set to be contested between 4-6 August. The event overlaps the Suzuka 8 Hour, meaning Team HRC will field Tetsuta Nagashima, Takumi Takahashi and Xavi Vierge at the prestigious Endurance race.
