A highly-motivated Pol Espargaro is geared to make his MotoGP return with the GasGas Factory Racing Tech3 team at the upcoming British GP, pending his final medical check on Thursday.

The GasGas Factory Racing Tech3 rider fell heavily in the second practice session at Portimao, suffering a pulmonary contusion, jaw fracture and a fractured dorsal vertebra in the fall.

He has been sidelined from the world championship since that incident at the opening round, with the Spaniard eager to make his first race start of the 2023 season this weekend at Silverstone.

“I am really happy to finally have the opportunity to come back after this tough period,” Espargaro said. “I have been working more than ever in my life to arrive to this day, and for me, being in Silverstone is already a big prize.

“I know that I will need to be patient, and that it will take time to be at my 100 percent again, with both my bike and my body, but I am full of energy to take on this challenge! Let’s get on the gas again!”

Once the final medical check at the circuit is cleared, Espargaro will line-up alongside rookie teammate Augusto Fernandez onboard the RC16, with action at round eight of the 2023 MotoGP World Championship to commence this Friday at Silverstone.
