Following that recent breakthrough sprint race victory at Silverstone, Gresini Racing has confirmed the extension of Alex Marquez through the 2024 MotoGP World Championship.

Marking his fourth season in the premier class, Marquez joined Gresini in 2023 and scored a P3 finish in the Argentinian grand prix, from pole position, and notched his first MotoGP race win on Saturday at Silverstone.

While the number 73’s teammate has not yet been announced for next season, Marquez was confirmed with Gresini again in a post from the outfit that sees him pictured with team owner Nadia Padovani and reads: “He stays”.

The former Moto2 and Moto3 world champion joined the premier class in 2020 with the Repsol Honda Team, scoring two second-place finishes before contesting the 2021 and 2022 seasons with LCR Honda.

He is currently P9 in the 2023 MotoGP World Championship standings following the first nine rounds of this year’s campaign, with teammate Fabio Di Giannantonio in 16th.
