British Supersport Championship leader Ben Currie extended his advantage at round seven of the 2023 season, the Australian winning both races at Thruxton in what was a commanding showing.

Currie has been the most consistent rider in this year’s championship, and entered the weekend in search of his first race wins of the season to extend his advantage at the top of the standings.

The Oxford Products Racing Ducati rider did exactly that, wining the sprint race from fourth on the grid and backing that up with another P1 performance in the 18-lap feature race, finishing 0.979s ahead of title rival Rhys Irwin (Astro-JJR Suzuki)

“What a weekend, thanks to everyone for the support and messages,” Currie shared. “Time to enjoy this and get back on the grind for Cadwell Park!”

Ahead of Cadwell Park on 26-28 August, Currie now leads the BSB Supersport standings by 14 points ahead of Irwin, as four rounds remain in this year’s championship.

Of other Australians competing in BSB Supersport at Thruxton, Macadam Racing’s Tom Toparis notched 7-6 finishes, while Seth Crump went 23-21.

Notably, Billy McConnell (C&L Fairburn Properties Jackson Racing) finished third in the final National Superstock race at Thruxton.
