LCR Honda Idemitsu will continue with Takaaki Nakagami in the 2024 MotoGP World Championship, marking the Japanese rider’s seventh consecutive season with the satellite Honda outfit.

After two race wins and multiple podiums in Moto2, Nakagami stepped up to the premier class in 2018 with Luccio Cecchinello’s team.

His best championship result came in 2020 when he was P10, and while he is yet to crack a MotoGP premier class podium, Nakagami has scored his strongest GP result of P4 three times, and qualified on pole at Aragon three years ago.

He is currently 17th in the 2023 MotoGP World Championship standings ahead of the grand prix of India, and will be joined by Johann Zarco in the team next year.

“I feel LCR is part of my family, and of course, I’m excited to be with them for another season,” said Nakagami. “I want to thank them and HRC for the opportunity, as I know we are a good match. Now it’s time to work even harder to be ready for the future”.

LCR Honda team principal Luccio Cecchinello added: “I’m proud to count on Nakagami for another year. He’s a fast rider who can get good results, and alongside HRC, we believe it’s time to keep pushing, as he’s one of the most experienced guys with this bike. We will give our best to fight for the positions we aim for.”
