Champions have been crowned in the 2023 FIM MiniGP Australia Series with Cameron Dunker and Rikki Henry taking the titles in the 190cc and 160cc classes at Oakleigh.

Dunker wrapped up the 190cc category championship in the first race at the fifth and final round, taking a 4.696s victory from pole position, with Levi Russo charging his way back to second after completing the opening lap in P7.

It was Russo who took the top spot honours for race two, and with that secured the round win as Dunker completed the final bout in third, recovering lost ground to take the chekers behind Bodie Paige who completed the overall podium for the round with a 3-2 scorecard.

In terms of the 190cc championship standings, Russo pipped Harrison Watts for second, last year’s 160cc champion concluding the campaign with a 4-4 scorecard at Oakleigh. Thanks to their top three championship positions, Dunker, Russo and Watts have earned a ticket to the MiniGP World Finals later this year.

Queensland’s Hunter Corney took the opening race win in the 160cc category, but it was Henry who secured the overall and championship win with victory in race two.

Corney finished P3 in the second race to secure second overall, while Jake Paige improved from a P4 finish in race one to take the checkers second in the final outing, completing the event third overall.

Crucially, Paige was able to grab second place in the 160cc championship standings by three points ahead of Corney, and with that, secure a spot in the FIM MiniGP World Finals later this year alongside title-winner Henry.

Additionally, the top three riders from each class will be invited to the press conference for the Australian MotoGP, and have a private meet-and-greet session with Jack Miller in his pit box at Phillip Island.

Of the support classes competing in Victoria, Carter Thompson won the round in Ohvale GP-2 while Jai Russo won the series. Meanwhile, in Veterans, Brendan Wilson won the round while Matt Watkins claimed the title. The Mini Motard / Grom class saw Miko Montano win for the weekend, while Paul Englezos had the most points at the end of the season.
