A full-time Moto2 World Championship opportunity has been secured by Senna Agius, with the Australian inking a deal to compete on the global stage with the Liqui Moly Husqvarna Intact GP team in 2024.

Agius, 18, has been a revelation in the European Moto2 Championship since joining the category last year with Promo Racing, concluding his rookie campaign second in the standings.

He signed for the Liqui Moly Husqvarna Intact GP Junior Team this year in search of the European title, which he currently leads, having won all but one of the races he has started this year in the class.

Additionally, Agius has had the opportunity to fill-in in the Moto2 World Championship at select races, standing in last year with the Elf Marc VDS Racing Team, as his latest outing in 2023 came last weekend at Motegi in place of the injured Lukas Tulovic at the Liqui Moly Husqvarna Intact GP outfit.

“I am feeling super-grateful to have the opportunity to step up with this team,” said Agius. “I just have to say thank you for this incredible chance and thanks to everyone involved for believing in me.

“It will be my rookie season and I have so much to learn but it’s already been a good time riding in Moto2 and I am so happy to be able to be jumping-up to Grand Prix now. I am just so excited. Hopefully, I can wrap up the European championship next week. There are only two races left but Japan provided another opportunity to keep learning.”

Agius will join South African Darryn Binder in the squad’s Moto2 line-up next year, as Collin Veijer and Tatsuki Suzuki will lead the Moto3 assault.
