A P7 finish in the Indonesian GP continued the build-up to the Australian MotoGP round for Jack Miller, with the Red Bull KTM Factory Racing rider overall ‘happy enough’ with his performance at Mandalika.

Miller notched a P6 finish at the round prior in Japan, marking a positive uplift after some challenging outings throughout the mid-part of the season.

The number 43 qualified 10th ahead of Saturday’s sprint race in Indonesia, where he made a good initial jump before wheelspin impacted his drive. Nonetheless, Miller was still able to complete the opening lap in P9, the position where he would ultimately finish the bout, despite a mistake at turn 10.

In Sunday’s GP, Miller survived the attrition and showed a strong pace in the closing stages of the encounter to secure P7, continuing to build a decent run of momentum ahead of his upcoming home GP.

“Happy enough with the performance this weekend and we had a strong showing,” Miller recalled. “I made a couple of little mistakes that cost us a bit of time but in general a decent pace at the end of race, which is always a positive in these hot conditions.

“The bike was working well. I’m happy with the outcome and it is nice to have two decent weekends in a row with both Japan and here. I’m looking forward to heading home now and hopefully putting on a good showing for the Aussie fans.”

The MotoGP World Championship moves to the iconic Phillip Island Circuit next, with round 16 of the 2023 season taking place between 20-22 October.
