The final round of the 2023 Supersport World Championship (WorldSSP) will see Oli Bayliss make his return from injury with the D34G Racing team at Jerez.

Bayliss has been sidelined since at attempting to ride in practice at Imola, with damage sustained in a qualifying crash at Donington, the round prior, resulting in shoulder surgery following the Italian outing.

The 20-year-old has recently returned to riding in Queensland, with the decision now made that he will commence the 12th and final round of the season, set to take place between 27-29 October.

“I’m very excited to be racing the last round,” said Bayliss. “It’s been a long time off the bike so I look forward to reunite with the team. I did ride a couple of days ago and the shoulder felt quite good, so we’ll see what we’ll be able to achieve once on track for the race weekend.

“I haven’t ridden this track and I’m very excited to finish the year off with Davide and the rest of the squad. See you in Spain!”

Team owner Davide Giugliano added: “I’m so happy to witness the return of Oli, our official rider, as we were hoping to see him back before the end of the season. Jerez will be a sort of new debut for him, but I’m it’ll help him a lot to get back in the swing of things and to recover the right feeling and motivation before the off season.”

Bayliss’ plans have not been officially confirmed beyond the 2023 season, however, contesting Jerez will provide an important opportunity for him to gain track time at the world championship level before the off-season, with his latest outing in practice at Imola taking place on 14 July.
