CFMoto Pruestel GP’s Joel Kelso will line-up in second position tomorrow for the Moto3 World Championship race at Phillip Island, equalling his best-ever qualifying result in the category.

Kelso has shown great pace throughout the weekend so far, able to set his laps without the need for a slipstream from other riders which is a promising sign ahead of the race tomorrow.

“Like you said mate, it was good that we did the lap alone and we are feeling good,” Kelso explained. “It’s awesome to be here in front of the home crowd, to see my flag up there and just awesome to see everyone out here supporting me.”

Kelso ultimately qualified just 0.136s from poleman Ayumu Sasaki (Liqui Moly Husqvarna Intact GP) with a 1m36.675s, marking his fifth front-row performance of the 2023 season.

The number 66 is in a strong position to better his career-best race result of P8 in the Moto3 World Championship, achieved at the Phillip Island Circuit last year.
