Moto2 and Moto3 riders were at Valencia on Monday for the official test using Pirelli tyres, with Alonso Lopez quickest in the intermediate class while Dani Holgado set the pace in the lightweight division.

Lopez’s (SpeedUp) best effort of a 1m33.061s was over two and a half tenths clear of the Moto2 pole time at Valencia on the weekend, and saw him lead Fantic Racing’s Aron Canet and Sunday’s winner Fermin Aldeguer (Beta Tools Speed Up) inside the top three – each rider all under the Canet’s pole effort from the weekend.

Australian Senna Agius was on track with the Liqui Moly Husqvarna Intact GP team, concluding the day just over half a second from Lopez and in P13, one position behind Moto3 world champion Jaume Masia (Pertamina Mandalika SAG Team) who delivered a solid outing in his step to Moto2.

Of other notable Moto3 riders stepping to the intermediate class, Diogo Moreira (+1.292) was 24th fastest, while Ayumu Sasaki (+2.581), Deniz Oncu (+2.678) and Xavier Artigas (+3.230s) were 26th through to 28th respectively.

Holgado (Red Bull KTM Tech3) smashed the Moto3 pace set on the weekend by over a second, notching a blistering 1m37.300s to set the benchmark in the switch to Pirelli rubber.

The Spaniard led Red Bull KTM Ajo’s Jose Antonio Rueda by 0.383s, while Moto3 Rookie of the Year David Alonso (Gaviota GasGas Aspar Team) took third position.

Australia’s Jacob Roulstone (Red Bull KTM Tech3) was out on track ahead of his Moto3 World Championship debut next year, finishing the day 12th and 1.211s from the lead, while Joel Kelso completed his first outing with the BOE Motorsports team in P14.
