Australian Moto3 newcomer Jacob Roulstone continues to make waves, securing yet another top 10 finish in round seven of the 2024 Moto3 World Championship at Mugello.

The Red Bull GasGas Tech3 talent showcased his competitiveness in Italy, consistently holding onto sixth place for a significant portion of the race.

Roulstone’s momentum was interrupted when a red flag halted proceedings, leading to a restart with 11 laps remaining. He launched from P7 on the grid once it resumed, and despite selecting the incorrect tyre option he managed to hold on and crossed the finish line in ninth place – three places ahead of countryman Joel Kelso (BOE Motorsports KTM).

“I’m quite happy with another top 10, but I am also annoyed at myself for making the decision to run the medium tyre,” 19-year-old Roulstone commented. “We’re learning! Pleased to be able to get my elbows out a bit more in the first laps.

“But was a shame that I was struggling with the grip when I opened the gas and lost the front group. A lot of positives though and more education here. The team did an awesome job and I’m already excited for Assen which is a track I’ve ridden before.”

The result marked Roulstone’s fourth top 10 in seven attempts this season since being drafted into the official GasGas squad, currently positioned 10th in the Moto3 World Championship standings.
