Australian Remy Gardner will replace the injured Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP Team test rider Cal Crutchlow as a wildcard at next month’s Silverstone British GP.

Gardner, who filled in for the team – replacing injured team regular Alex Rins – at the Sachsenring, has been drafted into the team once again for a second stint back in MotoGP.

Originally set to wildcard at the British GP, Crutchlow will remain sidelined following surgery to repair a hand injury. Crutchlow underwent surgery two months ago to fix the problem, but complications while healing will see him go under the knife once again.

“First of all, I just want to say that I hope that Cal can get better soon,” said Gardner. “I saw him last week, and I hope he can get back to riding and help the MotoGP project along.

“Obviously, it’s a nice opportunity to get to ride the M1 again, so I’m really happy. Silverstone is a track I like, and hopefully, I can give some more important feedback to Yamaha and the team and continue to enjoy the moment. Thanks to everyone at Yamaha, and I’m looking forward to riding again!”

The 2024 MotoGP World Championship season will resume after a three-week break, with the British Grand Prix scheduled for 2-4 August.
