Australian international Josh Brookes is this week celebrating a breakout Senior TT podium following the 2024 Isle of Man TT, the Monster Energy by FHO Racing BMW rider setting his best-ever lap of the road racing circuit despite a week that was filled with challenges.

British Superbike Championship front-runner Brookes, 41, has been a regular at the famed Mountain Course in stages during his career, recording a quickest lap of 134.056 mph on his Superbike-specification M 1000 RR during Saturday’s main event.

“I always knew that bike and category was going to be my best chance at a good result,” Brookes reflected following the event that was largely impacted by weather. “I wasn’t expecting Hicky [Peter Hickman] to crash out and Michael [Dunlop] to have a problem, but I put my best efforts forward and ended up in second at the end.

“After all the misfortune and disappointment I’ve had over this TT, I’m really pleased with the second – it’s like a win to me! I’ve done by far my best lap time, improved by a long way and now have the trophy – and the celebrations – to prove it!”

Brookes finished behind Senior TT winner Davey Todd (Milwaukee BMW), with Dean Harrison (Honda Racing) completing the podium. Earlier in the week, Brookes’ chain broke in the Superbike race, he finished 10th in the Superstock race, went 6-10 in the pair of Supersport races on an R6, and rode an R7 to 11-8 finishes in the Supertwin races.
