Decorated Western Australian Bryan Staring has announced that he will retire from professional competition in the Australian Superbike Championship (ASBK) at the conclusion of the 2024 season, the 2010 champion officially calling time on his career.

Now 37 years of age, Staring’s career has spanned over two decades both at home and internationally, including a stint in MotoGP with Gresini Racing Honda during the 2013 season.

In addition to his experience across grand prix racing including contesting both Moto2 and 125GP in one-off appearances, Staring has raced in the Superbike World Championship (WorldSBK), World Supersport, and is the winner of three European Superstock 1000 races from the 2012 season.

“I love riding and racing motorcycles,” Staring stated. “I have since I was a kid racing motocross, when I made the switch to road racing and every time I get on a bike but there comes a time when you need to reassess your situation.

“I have an amazing wife and young son, a great job that I enjoy, and have had an amazing career racing motorcycles that has seen me travel the world, line up against some of the best there’s ever been and take some wins along the way, but this will be my last full-time season.

“I want to thank all those teams, managers and crew chiefs that have given me opportunities over the years, some of them here with me now, along with the manufacturers and brands that have trusted me to represent them. I’m far from done riding motorbikes – I love it too much – but it’s time to step aside and move on to the next stage in my life with my family.”

Staring is a three-time national champion within the ASBK series, capturing his first title in 2004, and then lifting the Supersport trophy in 2009. He clinched the premier class championship as a rookie in 2010 aboard a Honda, prior to embarking on his career abroad the following season.
