An incident-filled penultimate round of the 2024 Mi-bike Australian Superbike Championship (ASBK) that saw the red flag brought out on two occasions has ultimately been won by DesmoSport Ducati’s Broc Pearson.

The opening race was a chaotic affair before the red flag was brought out on lap six, as Glenn Allerton (BMW) crashed heavily ahead of Bryan Staring (Motogo Yamaha) going down in a separate incident.

Upon the restart, Broc Pearson (DesmoSport Ducati) picked up where he left off, taking charge of the field as Mike Jones (Yamaha Racing Team) and Max Stauffer (Penrite Racing SBK) traded second position on multiple occasions.

Yamaha-mounted Anthony West quickly made his way into second spot over the coming laps, while it was incredible charge by Penrite Racing SBK’s Cameron Dunker, who made a number of big moves – including a last-lap pass on teammate Stauffer – to lock down third position behind West and race-winner Pearson.

Stauffer was fourth ahead of championship leader Josh Waters (McMartin Racing), as the top 10 was rounded out by Arthur Sissis (Stop and Seal Racing), John Lytras (Yamaha), Jones, Ty Lynch (Yamaha), and Ryan Yanko (Yamaha).

Race two would also see the red flag come out just laps into the outing after Stauffer suffered a serious high-side, which also claimed West and Dunker in the process.

Jones led from the restart to eventually win by a comfortable 2.406s over Waters and Pearson, while the top five was completed by Sissis and Lytras. Sixth to 10th was taken out by Lynch, Yanko, Allerton, Josh Soderland (Yamaha), and Michael Edwards (Yamaha).

Overall, it was Pearson from Jones and Waters – the latter now holding a 27-point championship lead ahead of The Bend’s title decider on 8-10 November in South Australia.
