Yamaha Racing Team’s Cru Halliday has ruled himself out of today’s racing at One Raceway’s sixth round of the 2024 Mi-bike Australian Superbike Championship (ASBK), which comes after being hospitalised in Thursday’s shakedown test at the Goulburn venue.

Halliday was cleared to ride and returned to the track for both Friday and Saturday’s sessions to qualify in P7, however the New South Welshman is understood to be dealing with a shoulder injury sustained in the incident that ultimately brought his weekend to a premature end.

“I have made the very heartbreaking decision not to race today,” Halliday explained in a social media statement. “It’s been a battle between my head and my heart all weekend, and I so badly wanted to give it a go, but unfortunately I just don’t have what it will take to get through the two 20-lap races today.

“I am absolutely gutted as it puts us way too far behind in the points to get an overall podium in the ASBK championship this year, but at the end of the day, I know my health comes first.”

Title contender Mike Jones will be the sole Yamaha Racing Team entry in today’s pair of races, with the first outing scheduled for 11:30am AEDT.
