Queensland teenager Harrison Voight will be an 11th-hour inclusion in this weekend’s Australian Motorcycle Grand Prix at Phillip Island after landing a fill-in seat at the Preicanos Racing Team onboard Kalex machinery.

The 18-year-old is a regular in the Moto2 European Championship with Yamaha Stylobike Phillipines, currently 11th in the standings with a single round remaining, and will replace the injured Daniel Munoz at his home GP.

“I’m so happy to announce that I’ll make my Moto2 World Championship debut at Phillip Island, filling in for Dani Munoz” revealed Voight. “This has always been a childhood dream for me to race at home in the world championship.

“I’m thrilled and can’t wait to get on track. I’d like to wish Dani a speedy recovery and a big thank you to Preicanos Racing Team for giving me this opportunity.”

Voight is regarded as one of Australia’s leading young talents that isn’t already in the grand prix paddock full-time, winning an Australian Superbike race in a guest appearance riding the title-leading McMartin Racing Ducati Panigale V4 R amid the domestic regulars.

A former Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup graduate, his lone start in the world championship came with the SIC58 Squadra Corse team in a one-off Moto3 start at Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli during the 2022 season, where he carded a P23 result.
