Second-consecutive DNF for the Australian Intact GP rider.
Australian Moto2 entry Senna Agius has described crashing out of the Malaysian grand prix on the opening lap as ‘devastating’, marking his second-straight DNF since landing on the podium at Phillip Island.
The Husqvarna Intact GP rider started from 18th on the grid and was working his way through the field before becoming involved in a multi-rider incident, which ultimately saw his weekend come to a premature end.
“Unfortunately in the scramble on the first lap, I got involved in an incident at turn nine that sent me down,” Agius explained. “Everything happened so fast, but we were all trying to avoid each other.
“It’s devastating – the last few races have been quite difficult to comprehend. There’s not much more to say – everyone is trying incredibly hard and we shouldn’t be that far behind. We just have to work towards the next race, where I need some redemption.”
The penultimate round of the world championship was a challenging one for the Australian contingent, with Moto2 fill-in Harrison Voight (Preicanos Racing Team) also going down on lap one, while in MotoGP, Jack Miller (Red Bull KTM Factory Racing) was lucky to escape injury after being involved in a frightening crash.
In the Moto3 category, Joel Kelso (BOE Motorsports) and Jacob Roulstone (Red Bull GasGas Tech3) finished sixth and 12th respectively.
