Australian Moto3 standout undergoes successful surgery.
Red Bull KTM Tech3-mounted Australian Jacob Roulstone expects to miss the opening rounds of the 2025 Moto3 World Championship after undergoing surgery on his spinal injury.
Roulstone suffered an undisplaced fracture of his C3 vertebra last week while training for the upcoming season and is now on the road to recovery after undergoing surgery.
“Firstly, thanks to everyone for your messages and well wishes,” Roulstone said. “Sorry for not replying to everyone individually, but it’s been nice to read them all, I really appreciate it, and thank you to everyone who has helped to make this happen so well.
“I’ve had surgery, which was very successful to plate and screw the necessary area and I can feel everything, which I am grateful for. Time to think like a ‘normal’ person and not as a racer to ensure all happens in the right way.
“All things going well, I will be discharged Monday, and for the next six weeks I’ll need to recover with the neck brace on. After that, further recovery to be fully fit again. I expect to miss the first few rounds of the season, and I will be taking advice from the fabulous medical team that has looked after me at Hospital HM Nou Delfos to confirm my exact return.
“I will come back stronger and more determined than ever to compete for this season.”
With the 2025 series taking off on February 28-March 2 in Thailand, Roulstone will likely be sidelined across the first three rounds, with the third race taking place at the Circuit of the Americas from March 28-30.
