MotoGo Yamaha Racing Team’s Cameron Dunker believes to have found the limit for his current Yamaha YZF-R1M package in his sophomore premier class campaign, calling on further adjustments to extract performance at the upcoming Mi-Bike Australian Superbike Championship (ASBK) rounds.

Round one at Phillip Island proved to be a solid weekend for the second-year rider, with an unfortunate DNF in the opening encounter backed up by a P5 finish in race two and P4 in race three, placing him eighth overall in the standings.

Following the weekend, Dunker is confident to have extracted all that was possible out of his motorcycle, and that additional progression with his current package is necessary in order to move further towards the leaders.

“During the off-season, I’ve done a lot of riding on a lot of different bikes, and I feel I’m riding at my best so far,” 17-year-old Dunker told CycleOnline. “So, this weekend, we probably changed a fair bit more than we usually would, but, I mean, it’s not a bad thing.

“I feel I’m riding good and I’m riding the bike to the limit – we just need to find where the next potential could be. I think we found the limit of this package, and we just need to try and improve it and keep moving closer to the front.”

The talented teenager – who was on debut with the revamped MotoGo program at Phillip Island after spending his rookie season with Penrite Racing SBK – will continue working with the team to evolve their setting and prepare for the second ASBK round at Sydney Motorsport Park from March 28-29.
