Disappointing P13 result for Moto2 standout in Argentina.
Australian Moto2 international Senna Agius said that he ‘couldn’t build up any feeling’ from the moment the lights went out of the Argentine GP, with the second round of the season producing what he labelled a disappointing 13th place result.
The expectations have risen for the highly-rated 19-year-old who enters his second season of Moto2 World Championship competition this year, following a third-place finish at the season-opener in Buriram at the beginning of the month.
Unable to match the same result at round two, Agius is focused on analysing what was missing in Argentina that left him stuck behind a handful of riders, and returning with a strong performance at the next round in Austin.
“We were really missing something very important [today], I tried to change my riding style, but I couldn’t build up any feeling from the start and couldn’t get into my rhythm,” recalled Agius post race. “I got stuck behind some riders and couldn’t overtake – that’s a bit disappointing.
“We’ll take home a few points, but we have to reset and prepare well for Austin. We showed good speed, but something was missing today, [so] we have to analyse that and think about it for America.”
With a 3-13 scorecard across the opening two rounds, Agius currently sits fifth in the Moto2 overall standings, with Austin’s Circuit of the Americas hosting round three on March 28-31.
