Stellar fifth place overall result at SMP in debut ASBK season.
Teenage standout Jack Favelle has enjoyed a strong start to the 2025 Mi-Bike Australian Superbike Championship (ASBK), racing to two strong results across the opening rounds of the season, which sees the New South Welshman hold down an impressive seventh overall in his debut season. He features in our latest Profiled.
After three seasons competing in the Supersport category, which led to a transition into the premier class for 2025, Favelle had the appropriate question marks with such a step in his racing, anxious to see where he would fit into the overall picture at a critical juncture in his young career.
“It’s been amazing, really,” Favelle opened to CycleOnline regarding the transition. “Three years of really hard work on the 600, then to step up onto the Superbike was…we weren’t sure if we were ready for it, and weren’t quite sure if it was going to work. For it to be like this now, only two rounds in with fourth in the second race and fifth overall [in Sydney] is amazing, and I am so happy.”
The belief that stems from such a performance, most recently a fifth overall finish at the second round of the season at Sydney Motorsport Park, can be the secret sauce to further success, dispelling doubts and reaffirming your place on the grid, and up towards the front-runners of the category.
Favelle notes that the confidence gained builds the belief that he belongs up front, and helps fuel the fire of progressing forwards.
“[This performance] really just reignites the flame, because you keep going and going, keep believing, and then it happens and it’s not as hard as you think it is. So we plan to continue on this trajectory, and we got pretty close to a podium finish overall, so hopefully at the next one we can get closer to the box.”
As for his recent run of form in ASBK competition, a combination of both his Addicted To Track race team and access to veteran teammate Ant West is helping push the young rider along, with both guidance and access to data providing a massive amount of help.
“It’s an amazing team and I’m so happy to be a part of it,” continued Favelle. “Even at the Island where I wasn’t so strong, having access to Westy’s data and for him to help me, and go out behind him, it really helps just with the progression of everything. Everyone on the team is super nice and works really well together, and we’re always working our way forward.”
Any leap into the premier category comes with question marks on where one may fit in the broader picture, however, running at the front of the field and mixing it with the sports best builds confidence and the belief that you belong.
For Favelle, this is exactly where he is at early in his career, with a bright future ahead as the races unfold.
