Round five of the 2025 Mi-Bike Australian Superbike Championship (ASBK) unfolded at Queensland Raceway, delivering a weekend of high-intensity racing alongside the Supercars. We’ve gathered the direct takes from riders for this Reaction feature from the fourth round of the season.

Josh Waters (McMartin Racing Ducati) – First overall:
Thanks to my team for preparing a great motorcycle. In race one I was quite tight, so more thanks goes to my cousin (and Supercars driver) Cam [Waters] for organising a physio in between races. The team also told me to believe in myself ahead of race two, but the pace in that one was so fast – Mike [Jones] just wouldn’t give in!

Mike Jones (Yamaha Racing Team) – Second overall:
I left it all on the track. In the first one I was able to get a real flow going and make some passes that got me to the front but in race two, Josh [Waters] was able to pick up his pace a little and we were just matching each other’s speed. I would gain a little on some sections, he would draw it back out in others and it went that way for the majority of the race. It would have been nice to get the round win here as I had so many family and friends come along. The atmosphere of racing with the Supercars was awesome and to have such a big crowd in attendance can only help motorcycle racing in Australia. Thanks to the Yamaha Racing Team on a big effort over the weekend. We had dry tracks, wet tracks, oil tracks and all kinds of conditions thrown at us, but the guys stuck at it and did a great job.

Max Stauffer (Yamaha Racing Team) – Seventh overall:
I felt my corner speed wasn’t where it needed to be, and I just couldn’t settle into a flow that produced consistently good lap times. The guys kept trying and we made plenty of changes, but it’s something we need to keep working on and improve for the final few rounds.

Broc Pearson (DesmoSport Ducati) – 12th overall:
This weekend started out really well and to put our Panigale on the box in the first race was really positive. The pace was pretty quick but we were perhaps missing a few tenths to run with the front two guys. In the second race I got off to a good start and I was feeling confident, it was great battling with Mike and Glenn in the opening laps but to be taken out so early was really disappointing – not just for me but for everyone in the team. There have been a few of these types of crashes this year and it can be pretty hard to take – but on a positive note I do feel like we are making important steps forward as a team and it won’t be long before we hit that top step. Thanks to all my friends, family and fans that turned out at QR, I’m already thinking about the next round at Phillip Island and how we can keep improving.
