Rebounds for strong Moto2 result in San Marino grand prix.
Moto2 prospect Senna Agius rebounded to a strong fifth-place finish at the San Marino GP on Sunday, labelling it as a ‘very important’ result following a troubling stretch of races.
The 20-year-old Liqui Moly Dynavolt Intact GP rider experienced a frightening crash at the Austrian GP last month, which left him sidelined for the following round in Hungary.
A return to racing in Catalunya was ‘disastrous’ for the Australian, who targeted a rebound at Misano. Qualifying seventh at the 16th round, Agius then pieced together what was a solid performance in Misano, racing to P5 after keeping the podium finishers in sight.
“It was a good race, I can’t complain,” commented Agius. “Fourth place would have been the best I could have hoped for today – maybe even a little better – because I saw the podium and relived that feeling I’ve been missing over the last months. But I got a little kick from behind and ended up on the kerbs, where I almost lost control of the front on the outside.
“Fifth place at the end of the day is good, and we’ve made up a little ground in the championship, which is nice. We’ve had some bad luck in recent months, [so] this fifth place is very important to me personally, not only for me, but also for my guys on our side of the pit. A big thank you to the team, they are doing a fantastic job.”
With his San Marino result, Agius climbs from 10th to eighth in the 2025 Moto2 World Championship standings, with his future secured in the category after signing a contract extension with the Intact GP team for 2026.
