Australian Moto3 talent Jacob Roulstone suggested that he was ‘over-riding’ on race-day Sunday in Misano, suffering from excessive tyre wear after qualifying on the front row.

The Red Bull KTM Tech3 rider powered to the third fastest qualifying time, eclipsing his previous best performance of P6 at Aragon earlier in the season.

With excitement levels undoubtably high for Sunday’s race, the 20-year-old conceded that he asked too much of the tyre during the opening stages of the encounter, which left him with a lack of grip for the remainder as he crossed the line in 11th.

“Unfortunately, I tore up the tyre today, but I gave it my all until the end,” recalled Roulstone. “I knew the pace was going to be fast from the start and tried my hardest to stick with the front boys. That led to a bit of over-riding, which used up the tyre.

“Still, I’m very pleased with my team and my own effort over the weekend. We gained a lot of positive things and also found a few more areas to keep working on. Now it’s a bit of time at home training before heading back to my side of the world to start the flyaway rounds in Japan.”

Roulstone sits 15th overall in his second full Moto3 World Championship campaign, with a season-high result of eighth place claimed at the German GP in July.
