Moto3 World Championship regular to miss Grand Prix of Portugal.
Moto3 regular Jacob Roulstone will miss next weekend’s Grand Prix of Portugal after undergoing successful surgery on a fractured left hand, now facing a race against time to return for the season finale at Valencia in a bid to extend his world championship career.
The 19-year-old Red Bull KTM Tech3 talent sustained the injury in a crash during practice at last weekend’s Malaysian GP, which ruled him out of the race.
“On Monday evening, Jacob Roulstone underwent a successful surgery on his left-fractured hand, performed by Dr. Claudio Duek at the hospital Teknon in Barcelona,” a statement from the team confirmed.
“Jacob will have to sit out the Portuguese GP next week as he will now fully focus on his recovery. The target will be to be in Valencia with the team for the season finale, if recovery goes all well.”
As a result, Roulstone will sit out the penultimate round of the 2025 world championship to focus on recovery, with the goal of rejoining the team in Valencia if his progress continues as planned. He is yet to formalise plans for the 2026 season, with Tech3 instead signing Valentin Perrone and rookie recruit Rico Salmela in the official KTM effort.
It’s been a challenging stretch for the Australian, who recorded a career-best P5 in Mandalika two races ago, but crashed out of his home grand prix at Phillip Island following a strong start to the race earlier this month.
