Morgan Park Raceway played host to round four of the 2025 Mi-Bike Australian Superbike Championship (ASBK), serving up another action-packed weekend of top-level racing. We’ve gathered the direct takes from riders for this Reaction feature from the fourth round of the season.

Superbike

Josh Waters (McMartin Racing Ducati) – First overall:
I am just so happy with how this round has gone. My history hasn’t been wonderful at Morgan Park, but to get pole, win race one, claim the overall and finish second to Mike [Jones] in race two is really satisfying.

Mike Jones (Yamaha Racing Team) – Seventh overall:
It wasn’t the day I was hoping for and it has really hurt my championship, but the positive was to finish the day strongly and pick up a race win. I felt comfortable in race one and knew I had the pace, and the bike set up that could maintain the speed all the way to the finish, but when I rolled off the throttle the bike just cut out and stalled, so I was stranded. But credit to the team as they worked hard to get things sorted for race two and with not much time between the races, they did an awesome job to get me back out there. It was good to get the win in race two and make the most of a tough day. I had plenty of friends and family here today, so they were disappointed after the first race, but to get back on track race two was a good way to end the day.

Max Stauffer (Yamaha Racing Team) – Ninth overall:
It was a disappointing weekend, for sure. The team worked hard and we kept at it like we have all year, but we’re just not getting the results on race day. We will keep working away and I’m sure the wheel will turn, and better results are just around the corner.

Broc Pearson (DesmoSport Ducati) – Second overall:
We expected a good result here at Morgan Park and to come away with back-to-back podiums – our first of the year – as well as second overall, we’ve got a lot to be happy about as a team. We were missing a little bit of outright pace this weekend but we fought very hard in the races to move forward. Our bike was very physically demanding which on a track like Morgan Park, isn’t ideal, so we will put some attention into that area moving forward. There were a few frustrations during qualifying which spilled into the races, but the reality is we are developing an ECU setup from scratch and that requires a bit of patience. I was still happy to move forward and make good passes when I needed, I maximised the strengths of the V4R in certain areas which was a key part of it. Now we head back to Queensland Raceway, another home track for myself and the Desmosport team. The support we have from all the passionate Queensland Superbike fans is amazing and I can’t wait to put on a show with the Supercars in six weeks.

Olly Simpson (BCpeformance Kawasaki) – Fourth overall:
It was a tough weekend for us! Just couldn’t really get going from the practice sessions onwards, we were just struggling a bit. I only got two laps in qualifying yesterday, which put us on the back foot. Racing-wise, it was hard to hold onto the pace, and we’ve got a bit to work on, as this track didn’t agree with us. We know what we need to do, and we’ll come back stronger for the next one.

Hayden Nelson (BCpeformance Kawasaki ) – Fifth overall:
We were on the second row of the grid for qualifying, and were a little bit on the back foot after not having a test here, but I think we made good progress on Friday and everyone worked well together to get the Kawasaki setup. Difficult start to race one, I had to come from pretty far back to sixth, and felt I had the pace for fourth, but a red flag drew an end to that one. Second race, I was last off the start after being pushed into the dirt, and managed to come back to P4 after the restart, which was a good comeback.
