Australian Moto3 prospect Jacob Roulstone was left ‘very pleased’ with his performance at a challenging Indonesian GP on Sunday, recording a career-high fifth-place finish at the Mandalika International Circuit.

The Red Bull KTM Tech3 rider qualified 13th for the 27-lap encounter, before methodically slicing through the field amidst brutally hot conditions to earn a top-five placement as several competitors struggled with consistency.

In what is the 20-year-old’s second full season of Moto3 World Championship racing, Roulstone bested his previous high score of P8, with his result in Indonesia signalling his first top five in the division.

“[I’m] very pleased with my race,” reflected Roulstone. “I think I did the best first few laps of my career, and I am very happy with the start. I struggled a bit during mid-race with the front tyre because I attacked a lot at the start, so maybe I cooked it a bit too much.

“[It was] a messy race – the hottest and most challenging one – but I am really happy and relieved to score a top five.”

After missing the opening two rounds of the season due to injury, Roulstone climbs to 15th in the overall season standings as the championship heads to his home Grand Prix at the scenic Phillip Island circuit on October 19.
