IDM: Aussie Holland joins RT Motorsports for Hockenheim

Talented Australian Russell Holland will take part as guest rider for the RT Motorsports Honda Superbike team at the Hockenheim round of the IDM series on 17–19 September.

Holland has contested the World Superbike and Supersport Championships in recent seasons, remaining in Europe and looking forward to making his debut in the German championship next month.

The former Australian Superbike Championship runner-up was originally set to debut with the team in the ONK Rizla Racing Days at Assen this month due to injury, now set to join fellow Australians Gareth Jones and Jed Metcher in the RT Motorsports team.

“After missing the one-off Rizla Racing Days in August because of my wrist injury I’m very happy to have the opportunity in Hockenheim to get out on track in such a strong championship with an ambitious team like RT Motorsports,” Holland commented.

“My friend Gareth has made a great job this year with them and I hope my joining the team will result in two RT bikes up front.”

The most recent round of the IDM series at Assen in Holland was won by World Superbike regular Max Neukirchner in race one before Barry Veneman won the second.

Aussie Karl Muggeridge claimed a pair of fourth places to consolidate his series lead in Superbike, with Jones taking a best of ninth in race two.

The Supersport category saw Damian Cudlin take third position, handing him a 16-point advantage in the series with just two races left to run.
