Australian World Superstock 600 contender Mike Jones and his Agro-On Racedays Honda team have announced an amicable parting taking place with immediate effect.

Jones joined the team to contest his first full world championship campaign in the competitive 600cc class and has achieved solid results from his first seven outings, placing in the points on three occasions.

The parting was announced via a statement from the team which confirms Jones will take no further part in the program.

“Mike has found it difficult to achieve a setup with the CBR600RR to suit his unique riding style, and as a consequence the results have been below what both he and the team had expected,” said team owner Gerry Bryce.

“As such we have decided a change will be best for all parties. Mike still remains a very fast rider and we are sure once he finds a comfortable setup with a bike he will be racing at the front again,”

Jones, who returned to his Queensland base last week, thanked the team for their efforts this season.

“Its been a tough challenge all season, but the team and I have given 100 percent,” said Jones. “I was looking forward to completing the remaining three rounds on the Honda with the Team.

“Disappointingly though, this won’t be happening. I’m now returning home to Australia where I’ll be in a familiar environment surrounded by my supportive family, friends and fans.

“I thank Team Agro-On Racedays Honda and wish them all the best in the future,” he added.

Jones was a late inclusion at last weekend’s round four of the Australian FX-Superbike Championship, riding an XXX Rated Suspension/Allsite Concrete Cutting Yamaha R6 to second and fourth places in the first two FX-600 races before winning the final.
