Penrite Honda Racing set for Phillip Island GP support races

Penrite Honda Racing press release:

The Penrite Honda Racing team of Troy Herfoss and Mark Chiodo will contest this weekend’s national Superbike support category event during the 2019 Australian Motorcycle Grand Prix at Phillip Island, Victoria, between 25-27 October.

Fresh from winning the penultimate round of the Australian Superbike Championship (ASBK) at the 4.445-kilometre grand prix circuit three weeks ago, defending ASBK champion Herfoss is looking forward to displaying his form in front of a large trackside audience on GP weekend.

“It’s going to be good to have a tune-up event before the ASBK final round in Sydney next weekend because that time on the bike is always important,” Herfoss commented. “I’d like to win this weekend, there’s definitely no point being conservative, so we’ll be trying hard and hopefully be able to deliver the result we’re aiming for.”

Also equipped with an ER Motorsport-prepared CBR1000RR SP Fireblade as part of Penrite Honda Racing, Victorian local Chiodo is renowned for his raw speed at Phillip Island and will be eager to impress in the trio of non-championship races. He currently sits 11th in the ASBK standings and will also benefit from added seat-time at the grand prix.

“Last time we were at Phillip Island for ASBK ended up being disappointing for me, so it’s good to be going back there this weekend to turn things around,” said Chiodo. “I was able to finish fourth at the GP last year, so the goal is to get another strong result across the three races and we’ll see where we end up overall.”

The national Superbike support category will feature on-track in practice and qualifying on Friday, following by the opening pair of eight-lap races on Saturday and a final outing on race-day Sunday prior to the world championship action.
