Team Honda Racing principal Paul Free is confident that his team will be able to draw upon an extensive bank of data logged at testing to set riders on the right path at round three of the Australian Superbike Championship at Queensland Raceway this weekend.
Free’s Superbike pairing of Jamie Stauffer and Josh Hook were on track at the 3.12 kilometre circuit for no less than three full days, with extended schedule allowing for extra time to refine settings and factor in different race scenarios.
“The Queensland circuit is a strong one for both Jamie and Josh so I am looking forward to this weekend’s event,” said Free. “The testing we have carried out over the past couple of months has given us an opportunity to really try some different scenarios and settings in the CBR1000RR.
“We have gained an awful lot of information to process and during the early stages of the weekend I feel we will set a very clear plan of attack for the races.”
On unofficial testing times, Stauffer and Hook were fourth and fifth fastest, replicating the current championship standings.
Stauffer will race with some discomfort following a crash late in testing last week, while Hook will be hoping to come up to speed quickly in what will be his rookie Superbike race at the challenging Ipswich circuit.
Circuit activity begins from midday today, with Superbike riders scheduled for two 20-minute practice sessions.
