Australian Arthur Sissis could firm up his future in the world championship as soon as this weekend when the series resumes at Motegi in Japan.

Sissis, 18, has been replaced at the Red Bull KTM Moto3 team for 2014 by close friend and compatriot Jack Miller (click here to view story), but is close to clinching a deal that will see him remain in the paddock for a third season.

“I was stressing because halfway through the season my results weren’t so good,” Sissis told Ten following Phillip Island. “I was afraid I couldn’t get a team for this year, but we’ve been talking to a few and I think next week we will announce it.”

Sissis was unable to replicate his podium form from 2012 during Sunday’s Phillip Island Moto3 race, finishing 16th in what has been a trying 2013 campaign to date.

“The truth is that it was a very difficult race,” he admitted. “I made a very good start and was amongst the top 10 on the first few corners, but at Turn Four Oliveira fell and another rider touched me.

“That set me back and I struggled to regain lost ground in the second group, because at this circuit it is very difficult. Eventually I got there, but if I had more laps remaining I could have improved my position.”

Sissis currently sits 12th in the championship with two rounds remaining, in which is currently led by Red Bull KTM teammate Luis Salom.
